Clogged Effluent Filter

An effluent filter is located on the outlet side of the septic tank installed in the outlet baffle. It’s designed to stop solids from going out to your bed, filtering out solids and letting the effluent through. As of 2007 effluent filters became mandatory on all new installations. It is important to clean this filter at least once a year, not cleaning could result in sewage backing up into your house.

Maintenance

How do I clean my filter?
Step 1: Remove the filter, reach down, grab it and pull it out.
Step 2: Spray the filter with a garden hose until clean.
Step 3: Place the filter back in, there will be an arrow on top of the filter (on select filters) install with the arrow pointing towards the bed. This should be done at least once per year.
